Vision Boards For The Win

I have made many mood boards for years now. From my school-time scrapbook to my fashion college theme boards, they have been part of my creative side, and Pinterest took it to a whole new level! Although, it wasn't until recently that I started to see mood boards in a different light.

Of course, I knew vision boards existed, but I never really indulged in them. In Lilly Singh's book, How To Be A Bawse, there's a chapter dedicated to it, and that's where I got the idea of making a vision board for life in general.

At times we have a single goal to work towards, and it's easy to concentrate on it. A vision board enables us to get into the details of achieving the set goal. When it comes to a broader perspective, maybe like a five-year plan, a vision board gives a clear and holistic image to complete it. The best part is, you can make it as personal as you want. You can create one for your private life and one for your professional aims, or have them on one board together. You can even make one so that you know yourself better, with all the things you like and your aesthetics. This board will help if you're trying to figure out your unique style quotient. For me, it was my vision for 2020 that needed to be represented on a creative mood board.

You don't need professional software to make one. I started with a list of goals, ideals, and motivations for the year. Next, I searched for images, quotes, and words that resonated with the list. On Powerpoint, I aesthetically assembled them and saved the board as an image. If I had a pinboard, I would've printed, cut, and pinned these pictures on it.

Currently, this mood/vision board is my laptop's wallpaper. Every time I switch it on/off, I have it in front of me as a reminder. When in doubt, the visuals and quotes help me stay clearheaded. It also motivates me to get work done on lazy days.

Do try to make a vision board for yourself and let me know how it worked for you because trust me, it will be helpful!

Love,

Rashmi B.
