Transforming A Worn-Out Blazer

A clothing item with loads of future possibilities is not just a dream, but I have managed to turn it into a reality. Faux leather, especially of low quality, can easily deteriorate in just a few wear. Such is the story of this jacket that I got as a part of Positive Phee's upcycling project. Working on this blazer was such an eye-opener, as it showed me the endless possibilities of working with leftover materials. Rather than these materials going in the landfill, if they can be made into a completely new object, then why not make that possible?

The sleeves were almost impossible to repair, but the body of the blazer was beautifully intact. So, like my previous upcycled top, I chopped the sleeves off and made this one into a sleeveless blazer. To add some bling, I added simple embellishments to the shoulders.

Originally, I had just visualized a sleeveless blazer in my upcycling process. However, the cut-off sleeves were brimming with new potential now. I then envisioned them only as raw materials and began my process of reimagining them. There were some good bits of the faux leather left, and those became a great base for some stunning earrings. The sleeves also had a satin lining. So, I thought it would be a good material for making frizz-free scrunchies. That's what I set out to do, and I got some fantastic results.

For me, the moral of the upcycle was that you can always try to reimagine a material before throwing it out as a waste. You'll definitely find a way if you're willing to give your old clothes a new life. So, keep reimagining, and check out my other upcycle projects at #RashReimagines.
