Spring Upcycle Of A Winter Essential

Here's how you can upcycle your winter knit top into your spring wardrobe.

White Knit top epicycle

I promise that I don't usually go on cutting tops just to upcycle them. I like to think through my upcycling process because I am aware that it can easily cause more harm than good. So, when I got this perfect-looking knit top from Positive Phee, I planned to work around the dye and dirt stain. I was going to wash off the dirt and work around the dye stain.

It was a simple makeover. However, it didn't go according to my initial plan. The dirt stains were set in and hard to remove. I didn't want to scrub them off because that would hurt the knit. I realized I couldn't work around the dirt and dye stains as planned. I concluded that I would have to cut the sleeves.

The top was oversized, so I had some margin to play around with the silhouette. I decided to cut it to shoulder length, and the upcycled design was born. It wasn't a top but an overlay that worked well for a spring wardrobe. The black details on the top came from the necessity to conceal the knit fray and to attach the front to the back.
