I am not kidding when I say that I suffer from chapped lips 24x7, 365 days. Seasons don't matter, though it gets a bit worse in winters. Anyone who has seen me in person on those bad lips days has unfortunately witnessed dry, and at times bleeding lips too. Sorry, guys! For a person who immensely loves a good matte lipstick, this situation is not ideal. Add to this problem I have a bad habit of biting my lips. Guilty! No wonder two of the products mentioned below are given to me by my friends.
Why do our lips chap? Because unlike the rest of our body, our lips lack sebaceous glands that produce oil, which keeps our skin moisturized. That's why it's not just in winters, but the dry, hot climate can lead to chapping too. I have realized that infusing moisture is the key. Here are some of the products that help me do the same:
It has been THE game-changing product for me and has become part of my nighttime routine. Regular use of this mask has proved to be the most effective solution for my chapped lips. Like any other nighttime product, it helps to keep my lip hydrated overnight.
This product works best for instant moisturization. I use it almost daily after bath to keep my lips supple, and I also prep my lips with the same before applying lip tints.
My friend gave me this product when I needed it the most. I use this, especially on the badly bitten lips. It helps them heal and keeps them moisturized.
Another product which was given to me by a friend. A lip oil can be a very effective base to apply matte lipsticks. Before I wear a matte lipstick, I prep my lips with this product and keep it on for at least 10 minutes.
I got this one from Amazon.com and have kept it in my shower ever since. Before taking a bath, I prep my lips with a lip balm, and while showering, I use this tool in a circular motion on the lip to scrub off dead skin cells. Ideally, this can be done 1-2 times a week.
Honestly, I never thought I would have a lip care routine, but these products have definitely helped me get my lips in better shape. It has even reduced my habit of biting on my lips. Pampering your lips isn't a bad idea after all. I hope this blog helps you find a lip product that's missing in your routine. And if you use any lip products that you swear by, let me know about them in the comments below. I would love to try them out.
Love,
