Here's How I Fully Reused A Package Delivery Box

Writer's picture: Rashmi B.Rashmi B.

I successfully utilized every single cardboard piece of a delivery box to create two new things.

It was two weeks after the Black Friday and Thanksgiving sales, and we had ordered in some essentials. So, there was a pile of package delivery boxes building up in one corner of our house. Of course, we were going to recycle them all, but as the quantity increased, I started to question whether a few of them could be reused too. The different modem wires just lying around was also getting to me. That's when I got the idea to make a modem cover from the delivery package. Scroll to see the simple steps and the final result:

It was also really important for me to not waste any of the cardboard from the leftover box. So, I created a picture frame from the rest of the pieces, like the one-inch cutouts, from the modem cover seen above, were placed on the back cutout from the modem cover to make the frame itself. Even the last two small squares were put to use on the backside of the frame to increase the width of the base. The idea for the frame came from a small one we already owned.

Here are the steps to make the DIY frame:

The tricky part was painting the cardboard to make it feel like wood. I researched and found out that light washes of acrylic colors in the sequence of yellow, red, and black help achieve the brown, wood-like color. Paint in some wood grain with black over it, and you'll have something that looks like wood.

What did you think of the two new things? Will you try out any of these DIYs? Love, Rashmi B.
