The first Monday of May is always exciting for all fashion lovers because of the MET Gala.
Yesterday we experienced fashion's biggest night out of the year. On the first Monday of May, all fashion lovers are glued to their devices, waiting to see who wore what on the red carpet. The theme was part two of 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion' and was interpreted as a gilded age reference. The exhibition, presented across 13 of the American period rooms in the museum, is set to give a historical context for Lexicon os what Andrew Bolton, head curator of the Museum of Modern Art’s Costume Institute, told Vogue.
Gilded glam is what everyone was anticipating on the red carpet. Some celebrities went for it (Blake Lively's gown transformation was simply divine) with design details that brought gilded age to the 21st century. Here are some of the ways in which the fashion details from that era were present on the red carpet:
The Famous S-Curve Silhouette
Corsets & Long-Boned Bodices
Puffy Sleeves
Décolleté-Cuts
Bows
Gloves
Black Lively's gown switch was my most favorite moment of the MET Gala carpet, closely followed by Natasha Poonawalla's couture saree and corset combo.
Which was your favourite MET Gala moment? Let me know in the comments below.
