These spring/summer 2023 trends look so fun. I want to try out all of them!
'We needed this!' most Californians said when it first rained. But now, the words we don't want to hear in our weather report is another atmospheric river heading our way. We are ready for the sunny spring and summer. In Mumbai, I rarely switched my wardrobe according to the season (monsoon season as an exception). However, I plan to pack my warmer knits as the temperature warms up in San Diego. As a tropical baby, I can't wait for more sunshiny days. And I am more excited about some of the wearable trends of spring/summer 2023, which I hope I can strut in soon. Here are some that are on my inspo board:
D&D Dare
It's the spring/summer game where you dare to wear the denim-on-denim trend. Until recently, I hadn't tried to do this, especially in the same colorway. So, it was an interesting experiment for me. I didn't think it would work, but it did for me. There's a resurgence in layering different types of denim. I have learned that punctuating the look with a different color is the key to avoiding the matchy-matchy look.
Cobalt Blue
This bold hue of blue is making its way into your wardrobe again. I remember buying a pair of pants in this color in 2016 for my graduation. It's a color I wouldn't usually gravitate toward, but I am keen to see it styled more effortlessly this time around. I recently got a pair of pants from Sourceress Vintage in cobalt and plan to have a few outfits focused on it.
Metallic Shine
A great way to add some shine to SoCal's May gray and June gloom is via hints of metallic texture. I always found it a bold way to add interest to an outfit. Before finding this skirt secondhand, I stayed away from this trend. Now, I can't wait to wear this skirt again this season.
Sheer Summer
Breathable, see-through fabrics are a must for hot summer days. I always find that they add a bit of intrigue to an outfit. Also, this gives us a way to keep our layering game strong through sunny months.
Topped with Lime
This zesty color loves being in the limelight for this year's spring and summer. Add a punch to your outfit with this bold but beautiful hue. Go for a color-blocked look, or calm it with neutrals.
Comfy Bottoms
Whether your style includes cargo chic or going tailored sleek, this summer is all about comfort. And I am here for it!
Big Bags
Tom from the HBO Max series, Succession didn't know that ludicrously capacious bags are a trend! Yes, bags big enough to fit flat shoes and our lunch pail are now acceptable and much-needed. Beach day bags aside, this trend speaks to the utilitarian aspect of back-to-office life.
Will you be trying out any one of these trends? If so, let's chat in the comments below, and share with me how you are going to try them out.
Love,
Rashmi B.
